The purpose of this article is to inform its audience of the growing power and influence of the Parkland shooting survivors. The main topic of discussion throughout the article is the increased difficulty media in support of President Trump has in undermining and controlling the teen survivors. This purpose is mainly aimed towards the beginning of this article as the author, Charlie Warzel, discusses article by pro-trump bloggers speaking of the Parkland shooting.
Charlie Warzel presents an opinionated and biased tone throughout the article as he specks of President Trump and his followers. The authors anger and annoyance towards the subject can be seen many times through the article, such as here, "By antagonizing underage survivors of a national tragedy," Warzel's most effective rhetorical device is his appeal to pathos. He mainly focuses on this device to provoke sympathy for the Parkland students and anger towards the Pro-Trump group in his audience. The purpose of this article was to inform the audience of the growing difficulties indigenous women face during the promotion of women's rights marches and events. Indigenous women feel that they are seen merely as a symbol due to their "regalia" and "honor songs".

Although the authors try to remain strictly informative in the article there are many appeals to pathos, including the mention of how many children were murdered during the attack on the mosque, " killed 305 people, including 27 children, and injured 126." By singling out children's deaths specifically the authors are appealing to our protective and compassionate emotions when it comes to children influencing their audience to relate and become invested in the situation. The purpose of the article is to inform the public about the new bill being passed in California requiring that pet stores sell only rescue animals. Reinstein uses examples of the overall reaction to the bill such as quotes from important leaders who were involved in the bill and tweets from numerous people.

The purpose of Prakash's article is to address the growing tension between President Trump and the National Football League. The author states the numerous confrontations between Trump and the NFL, mostly through tweets from the president himself and the players themselves. Prakash's means to inform the people of all the facts on this matter.

The authors use of quotes from various people involved in the situation helps to convey the emotion towards the topic. Prakask expresses an informative tone through the use of words such as, "fundamentally misunderstand..." and "defended himself..." The informative tone is also shown through the many accounts of people involved in the controversy. The use of appeal to ethos is almost immediate.
